Activities at NEAR-Fest
NEAR-Fest is more than just a flea market. From license exams to Friday-night live music, here’s everything happening on the grounds.
Flea Market
NEAR-Fest is home to the largest ham radio flea market in the Northeast. You will always find something you didn’t know you needed! Commercial vendors also return event after event with reliable inventory.
Camping
Why leave the grounds? NEAR-Fest offers camping directly on the grounds. Make it a weekend event for you, your friends, and family. Setup starts Thursday at 3:00 PM directly in the fest area, so there is no need to move your rig later.
FCC Amateur Radio Licensing Exams
Looking to get an amateur radio license or upgrade your existing license class? Testing is offered Friday only in the French Building on the grounds. No NEAR-Fest admission ticket is required to test.
HAM-JAM, Friday at 7 PM
Bring your instrument, your voice, or just your ears! HAM-JAM is our informal Friday-evening acoustic jam session on the upper floor of the French Building, starting at 7 PM. All skill levels welcome. It’s a NEAR-Fest tradition and a great way to wrap up day one.
Midway Exhibits
The Midway is where hams show off. Think EmComm setups, portable HF stations, homebrew builds, digital modes, satellite gear, SDR, vintage restorations, and other cool tech. Stop by, ask questions, and start conversations. Individuals and organizations are welcome to exhibit, and approved non-commercial exhibitors are admitted on us.
Prize Drawings
Prize drawings are part of the fun at NEAR-Fest. Your admission ticket is your entry. No separate raffle purchase needed. Winners are announced during the event.
Most activities are free of charge but do require a NEAR-Fest admission ticket.
